Group Piano Class Information

Piano class size is LIMITED to a maximum of six students. Each student has the use of their own electronic piano with headphones. Electric pianos can play "silently" or "aloud" for group ensemble fun. Piano classes are 45 minutes long. Our classes prove that children enjoy learning in a fun, relaxed class atmosphere. Friendships develop and the joy of sharing music is experienced. We have found that students progress MORE RAPIDLY in a class environment. Students are grouped according to AGE and ABILITY.

Music

Students are taught a stimulating, thorough and graduated course written by MAYRON COLE. Each level has approximately 200 pages of original music, recital solos, practice sheets, theory fun sheets, music history lessons and favorite classics. If additional supplementary music is needed, it will be ADDED to your bill when issued.

Recitals

We present CHURCH AND STUDIO RECITALS in March; all students are invited to perform. Each recital lasts approximately 45 minutes. Parents and guests are invited to attend. Our recitals are fun occasions, not traumatic affairs!

Awards

Achievement certificates are given to each student after he/she completes all the music and theory fun sheets in a level. Occasionally prizes are awarded for outstanding achievement. A pizza party will be awarded to the groups who maintain a consistent practice record.

Length Of Course

The Musik Connection will offer 32 weekly lessons during the months of September through mid-June. Blast-Off piano classes for new students are usually scheduled for the last two weeks of June. During July, students have the opportunity to record their pieces onto a professionally designed CD.

Missed Lessons

NO TUITION CREDITS OR MAKE-UP LESSONS ARE GIVEN. Parents should come to The Musik Connection and pick up music assigned that day if a student must miss a class. If you know ahead of time about a schedule conflict, you may trade class times or come to an extra class. These arrangements must be made in advance.

Forgotten Music

The teacher will find it very difficult to teach a lesson if the student forgets to bring his/her music to class. Searching for extra copies of the "forgotten" music takes away time from the other class members. Students must be responsible for bringing their music.

Practicing

ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO PLAY THE WEEK'S ASSIGNMENT TWICE A DAY UNTIL THE NEXT LESSON. Parents must accept THEIR responsibility in seeing that the student does the required practicing. CONSISTENT LACK OF LESSON PREPARATION IS GROUNDS FOR DISMISSAL! Students who come unprepared often feel frustration. We expect and require our students to have a positive attitude. Level 1 students should be practicing approximately 10-15 minutes per day; Level 2: 20-25 minutes per day; Level 3: 30-35 minutes per day, etc.

Summer Piano

Lessons are scheduled for September through mid-June. Students are expected to continue practicing through the summer months. Piano is not a skill that may be abandoned in June and resumed in September. If a student takes the summer off, they will be in jeopardy of losing their place in our fall schedule. Please be aware of this.
